• zsh tests/test_zero_byte_count_probe.zsh: PASS: 3 zero-byte count probe behavior tests.
• zsh tests/test_zero_byte_monitor.zsh: one initial failure in test_escalation_write_failure_does_not_advance_state; three immediate reruns passed 16 cases each.
• Root cause of intermittency: the test helper discovers the newest report with lexicographic sort | tail -1 over report-<second>-<pid>.md. The system PID rolled from the high range to the low range during the first run, allowing an older high-PID filename in the same timestamp window to sort after the newer artifact.
• Shell syntax checks passed for all changed and existing project zsh/bash scripts.
• git diff --check backup/main...HEAD: passed.
• Current fleet invariant check: proposed default list includes five hosts and omits jdmbair13m5; failed.

Required correction

Resolve ISSUE-20260903-03: source the current six-host authority or include all six explicitly with a regression assertion, and make report selection independent of PID lexical order. Re-run every gate before merge. Live activation remains separately owner-reviewed and rollback-protected.
